Reviews

On this page I will be giving reviews of campgrounds, interesting places we've seen, and any new camping or RV'ing items I pick up or try.

Nuwave 2 Precision  Induction Cook top
For Christmas 2015 we bought a Nuwave Precision Cook top 2. I'd read plenty of reviews on the many RV forums I follow, I also watched an infomercial on the product.  Price for this unit was $99.99, I thought a little pricey but again I'd heard so much good about these things I said what the heck.
Out of the box the Nuwave PIC comes with detailed instructions, a quick start guide, and a DVD that explains a lot more. The DVD spends way too much time explaining all the other Nuwave products you can buy, but you can get past this sales pitch.  The Nuwave PIC 2 has a large cooking surface that measures 12 1/4 inches across and 2 1/2 inches tall. Big enough for any cooking pot you have.  The controls are on the panel across the front and easy to use, see, and read.  The unit weights only about 1 pound and easily sits on our counter top 24/7.
The temperature settings range from Low 100 degrees to High Sear 560 degrees.  The one thing I didn't find out until we opened the box is you can't run it off batteries so no Boondocking with the PIC 2.  Using your pots and pans with the PIC 2 may change a little, you need to have metal bottomed pans for the induction to work.  The easy way to tell if your pots and pans will work is to put a magnet on the bottom, if it sticks you should be good to go.  FYI, some metal pans don't have enough magnetic properties for the pots to work. If buying a new cookware set check the box for the induction symbol somewhere on the bottom.  One thing the instructions say is "persons with a pacemaker should keep a distance of 2 feet from the Nuwave PIC 2 while in operation".
We continue to use ours just about every day and why not. What a great way to save propane if you can. We still use a small 2 burner electric cooktop when a side dish is needed.  But mostly the 2 appliances my wife uses now is the Nuwave 2 and her crockpot.  In my opinion a great addition to our kitchen.

Review of Raccoon Mountain RV Park and Campground

Labor Day weekend 8/30/13

We arrived about 4:30pm, walked right into the office I gave my name and was checked in a couple of minutes later. Four people were in the office (I'm guessing in anticipation of a very busy evening). Good job there guys.

We were given a very detailed map of the campground with directions also. Our site was listed as a back in site but it was so large it could and was turned into a pull through site. The large RV sites were mostly open with little tree coverage. AKA no shade.

The tent and pop up sites which is where we were camping had plenty of shade due to the massive oak trees there. The sites were relatively level with a gravel base. You could almost bet your bottom dollar to hit a rock when pounding in a stake.

I'll get right to my most important item when using a campground. Bathhouse.

The floor was clean every time I went in there. All faucets and hand drying machines were working properly. Showers had a shelf and hook in the private changing area, water pressure was great and Hot. The only negative would be having a little more elbow room in the shower.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The Caverns of Raccoon Mtn. are part of the campground and you can buy tickets in the office for $10.07 each. The tour guide was knowledgeable and took her time explaining the many different things found in the cave system there.

The RV sites had 30 or 50 amp service in addition to water and sewer hook ups. The tent and pop up sites had 30 amp service and a 20 amp receptacle. Water pressure was good and taste was good also. The campground was very clean. If you are traveling through Chattanooga and have the time to stop at Raccoon Mountain RV and campground I recommend you stop. I would rate them 4.5 out of 5
